The 30 Day Music Challenge - Day 14 - A Song That No One Would Expect You To Like

Apparently, I've already succeeded in providing the challenge of Day 14, back on Day 8 with my karaoke offering! Thanks halfshellvenus for the honors!

My musicial tastes have always been pretty eclectic. I have hard rock, classic country, unexpected pop of various sorts and classical tunes all in The Collection™ and I suspect that might surprise some people. I considered posting several songs from these categories just to prove that fact, but I do believe in retaining the rules where it matters.

Maybe it's not such a surprise that I like a lot of different music. I was exposed to a lot growing up. If you're old enough to know about "The Ed Sullivan Show," featured in the Broadway musical turned film, "Bye Bye Birdie," or if you catch the edited and repackaged version that runs on the Decades channel, multiple times each weekday, you know and understand that you might hear the music of the Dave Clark Five, the New York Philharmonic, Johnny Cash, Leontyne Price, and Roger Williams, possibly all during the same episode! Perhaps that's where I got the philosophy that good music doesn't have a genre?

So I won't pontificate a lot when it comes to today's selection. I'll just present it.

It gave you some time to think ahead, which is always nice. These essays are a lot of fun to read, and you put a lot into them.

Actually, I AM surprised at this one. I heard it performed recently, and there's a decent amount of story in it. But the twanging, and the unadventurous quality. Actually, if your "surprising things I like" bucket is really big, this could very well be in it, but it brings out the "No, please" in me.

In my very large bucket, which includes things that aren't my favorites but which I kind of like, you might find stuff like The Who's "Can't Explain," which is not high art or even one of their best songs, but I still like it. Or Neal Young's "Southern Man" (despite his voice) or Abba's "Dancin' Queen." These things just can't be helped. :D

I admit this was a bit of an issue for me because I was trying to imagine what I thought people thought I liked, then I attempted to select something that did not fit those categories. It made for a lot of scrolling through my tracks to come up with something that I thought would fit. What you're telling me is "you should've kept looking!"

I don't know about the size of my "surprising things" bucket but that's because I don't know what people might be surprised by. I need to figure out such stuff.
