Are these actually "predictions" as much as they are "inevitabilities?"

Honestly? I really hope I'm wrong about ALL of this. )

Stop me if you've heard this one. But once, there was a president who started a war with a Middle Eastern country so people would stop focusing on issues to do with his sex life and his friendship with a noted sex trafficker. He tore up the deal his predecessor had set up with said Middle Eastern country and that allowed him to suddenly claim they were developing a nuke and now we had to bomb the hell out of them.

You won't believe what happened, next! )

The Headline: trump declines to rule out declaring a national security emergency to control the 2026 midterm elections.

Now, some people will dismiss this as just another off the cuff comment from the orange orangutan. But if we actually sit still and think about it, he is doing what he did in 2020, when, weeks before the election, he stated "the only way the Democrats can win is if they cheat."

trump is priming the pump, he's normalizing what insane stuff he plans to do, and he's doing it 3 months in advance, so he can really make it rote by the time November comes around. The weirder and more criminal the action, the sooner you have to start with the rhetoric.

We've already seen what happens when trump loses. And that was a case where he planned to run again, so he was on "better" behavior, that time. Here, he has no need of a pretense of reason. He can go off the rails, jump into the abyss, grab the Stars and Stripes and sail off into the basement of his ballroom where he'll hunker down during the period of Marshall Law he'll declare and have military troops marching through DC and every other major city he doesn't like.

I suggested that there might not be midterms. Now, trump is suggesting there might not be midterms.

The next question is, what can the American people do to assure that midterms are held and that the results don't get Leon'd? Because you know that if they can't prevent the elections, they'll want to control them as much as they can.

These people are all about the power. And having it, they do not want to relinquish it. And they will do anything and everything to hold it. Nothing is off limits, nothing is too crazy to do. And we don't have any watchdogs. Congress and SCOTUS are both on the wrong side of history.

Have we had our last election in the US? I never thousght I'd write that question and actually need an answer to it. But worse, I never thought that the answer could possibly be yes.

Good News!

I really didn't think I would be getting this kind of mileage out of the Medical Stafff icon, but here we are. And the Good News is The City has proclaimed the Legionnaire's outbreak officially over!

Yes, another person died, so now the total number of deaths is seven. But it's all under control. Unless that new cell of bacteria found in the East Village is an issue. I don't think anyone has gotten sick there, so maybe it's no big deal at all. And it wasn't in a cooling tower. It was in the building's water supply. So those people have to deal with taking cold showers so they don't breathe the steam from the water which might cause a problem or two.

On the other hand, maybe every building, everywhere needs to be checked for everything. Like the song says, "East Side, West Side, All Around the Town."

Oh, and it's the end of the month, so we can take some solace that we have survive 7/12ths of 2026. And now there's just 94 days until the midterm elections here in the US.

I wish I knew how to feel about these next ninety-four. Will the war rage on? Will it come to our shores? Will trump try some tricky stuff like Marshall Law or attempting to cancel the elections? Will there be fighting in the streets, more American citizens killed by "law enforcement?" Will any Mainstream Media actually stand up and do their jobs or have they all become the mouthpiece of the administration?

I *think* New York City and State should be fine, at least for the time present. But I have friends and people I like in a lot of places where the manipulation has already been taking hold, and it is worrisome. But, of course, NYC is the target everyone loves to consider, because of what it represents. So, we're always concerned that someone is out to get us. It's not paranoia if it's real, right? And there are so many who have us in the crosshairs... including trump, who really despises our Mayor and Governor and who wants to trash the city that doesn't love him. But, why should anyone here love him? trump has screwed over so many people here, he knows better than to come back unless he has some incredibly good reason, like helping the Knicks lose a basketball game or trying to steal the World Cup.

Why the president is having a feud with the largest city in his country is just one of the bizarre elements of this timeline. And I don't think that's going to end, anytime soon, especially since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be throwing her hat into the ring... there's early talk of a Harris-AOC ticket. Personally, I detest "early talk" because it only gives the opposition the chance to start targeting criticism and bold face lies at them. And then there's the DNC, which still refuses to talk about gender when they have a woman running for the Highet Office in the Land.

Maybe this news wasn't all that good.

If you saw any of the NBA Finals this 2025-26 Season, (and probably, even if you didn't) you'll know that the ONLY game the Knicks lost during that series was the game that the pretendident of the untied states attended.

Now, he inserted himself into the World Cup on behalf of the US team and, sure enough, The US lost.

I'm not saying that everything that trump touches, dies.

But a whole lot of people have been saying that.

The job of Chief Executive is one of the most challenging in the world, and I think when the POTUS is doing stuff that isn't related to that job, maybe that means they're not doing their job properly. And I think even the people who voted for him can agree, things have not improved in this country for the vast majority of people, below the half billion dollar poverty line.

Going to basketball games, phoning up World Cup Officials, blowing up boats in international waters, killing girl students and faculty members in their classrooms, mismanaging a pandemic so that a million Americans lose their lives, starting and stopping a war so frequently, you'd think it was a strobe light.

And then, of course, using the office to make money for himself, whether it's through accepting jet airplanes, cash bribes or just simple purchases of his phony cryptocurrency.

We really have to vote out EVERY REPUBLICAN from EVERY OFFICE up for election this year. All Republicans are either actively helping this doofus do what he wants or they're standing by and saying nothing while he's looting the US Treasury and taxpayer funds for his own pocketbook.

And then, there's the Epstein Files.

You know, I look back on the George W. Bush days, back in the heyday of LiveJournal, all the comments I made about how Dubya was the worst president in the history of the country, and I can only marvel at how wrong I was. At least Dub was somewhat experienced as a governor, and then there was Dick Cheney (who was doing most of the stuff that we were complaining about).

But this is corruption, pure and simple. This is profiteering from the office. This is possibly treasonous behavior (we don't know because we are being kept from finding out just what this guy is actually doing). And nobody in the Legislative or the Judicial branches, controlled by Republican partisan members, are even blinking an eye.

Look. I know the Democrats aren't the perfect party. They have issues with various factors, they have a wide stance when it comes to attempting to lead. But they always honor the Constitution. If their members do wrong, they encourage those people to step aside and those people always do. And they work for the people who need the most help, not the people who have the most money.

We have to vote all of the Republicans out of office, no matter how good you think they are, because, based on what we're all looking at right now, the best of them is no damn good.
